President's Day Thoughts (Angry Girl)

Normally I would send a blog entry to Patricia for approval, but, feeling the need to vent and rant, I'm just going for it. It's all about me today, except to say that poor Patricia has to work while the rest of the world has the day off. At least she got some sleep last night. My radiator was banging all night long and kept me up. I was afraid it was going to explode, and with all the fantasizing I've done about a glamorous death, that was never an option.
I think match.com may, in fact, be a good way to make friends. Both last night and the night before I went out with guys who, after the first date I said, "Let's be friends." The Saturday night guy, well, I really do just want to be friends. But the Sunday night guy, well, he may have taken me too literally.
I went on a date with him and found out a day or two later that my ex-boyfriend suffocated his 23 month old baby and shot himself. Naturally I was questioning my ability to choose appropriate mates. Just around that time I met the ex-boyfriend who kept me busy until New Years. In the meantime, Sunday night guy met someone else, and so, we're friends. But he's very cute and I'm starting to think we're soulmates because we worry about the exact same things! Last night he told me he thinks I'm a freak. Should I take that to mean he likes me?
So all in all, in my search online for an appropriate life partner, I've made three male friends who can talk to me all about all of their other dates. What a success.
Today we celebrate, what? The birthdays of all our past presidents? I find it interesting that all our past presidents share a birthday. Don't you?
Patricia and I declared yesterday that we were going to go to a new club every night this week before I moved out and left for Colorado for the month. (Yes, it's true.) Yesterday, we went to see Notes on a Scandal and ate so much popcorn that Patricia felt ill and I ended up solo with above-mentioned Sunday night guy.
Tonight, I have to finish an article and I just binged on f*ing Swiss chocolate that Patricia keeps bringing back which means I have to work out for a couple of hours. No partying tonight. Time is running out. It looks like Thursday night will be our night on the town. Check back Friday for some good stories, we hope. If all else fails and we never actually go out in Boston, I'll be visiting Patricia in Lausanne in June :) , and hopefully we'll have some stories about that.
In the meantime, happy birthday to all our former presidents, and I hope you are all having a nice day off. Well, all of you except Patricia, who - did I mention? - has to work.

  1. Jean, I liked your last night not-date. He was pretty good-looking and seems very nice. Maybe you should stay...

What will Bay Street Rehab without you? I'll miss you.
You didn't mention in the blog that I'm hibernating. I'll resurface when it's above 70° again.

  2. Okay, so I took the bait - as one of the 'American' friends...I've always been competitive with Europeans, doncha know?! Is Jean seriously making haste back west? Jean?! I hope Patricia will let me live through her vicariously if Jean truly bails. The blog is the bomb (helium or not).
