Wanted: Baby Daddy

It's been a while since I've written. So we have some catching up to do.
First of all, for those who were worried (thank you), the Flip alert is not completely off, but I would say it is now an orange alert. Don't-leave-your-belongings-unattended and still-watch-people-around-you, but not, hire-tough-guys-with-machine-guns type of alert. I've resumed my normal life and decided to keep the TV for now.
The second floor of the Bay Street Rehab Center has been covered in boxes for the past two weeks. My 500-pound worth of stuff arrived from Switzerland. All my life in 14 big boxes. I have some major re-organizing to do to fit all of the stuff into closets and shelves. Jean’s room is currently inaccessible.
Thankfully the load arrived right before my trip to Florida. Just in time for me to dig in a few boxes to grab my flip-flops, a couple of tank tops and a pair of shorts.
I went to Tampa for a meeting that lasted all in all 2 hours and then I went on a road trip to visit my college friend, Marie-o-lait, in Fort Lauderdale for the weekend.
If you ever get the chance to take that drive, you really should. It's 200 miles of straight line across the marches. It's called Aligator Alley, but I didnt see any. I didn’t see anything really. But then again, I was on a mission: Get to Marie's place before 3pm to be able to go with her to pick up her kids from school. I was cutting close, but with incredible coordination, we made it happen: Marie had put Baby Noah in his car seat, opened the passenger door and started to back up from her drive way as I pulled in; all I had to do was jump from my car to her car. From the smiles on the kid’s faces when they saw I was in the car, the speeding was well worth it.
Marie-o-lait is originally from Belgium. We met in college on our first day at the orientation for foreigners. It was an interesting session about how in America, women shave their legs and armpits and use deodorant and shower daily.
Our college years have been rich of stories and when we see each other, once a year, we laugh hysterically at the same stories.
We realized that despite the fact that our lives took very different routes, we remained the same. It’s been ten years, but we’re still cool. We still have a great sense of humor. We still are fresh and spontaneous. Our friendship has not gotten old.
The time in Florida flew by and the goodbyes came to fast. It was hard to go back home and be alone. I miss Marie-o-lait and my little friends.
I want a family, too. I need a baby daddy…

  1. Hey! Not ALL Americans shave their pits...:) Thanks for still reading. We can keep throwing in those cultural stereotypes to see if the other is paying attention. Now, as for that baby daddy...

  2. Welcome back Patricia!!! We missed you! Clean my room. I'll be back next week, living in Holden (!) with mom. :)
(I'm just kidding, enjoy your space.)
